Fruit of the Redwoods @3g :
This May, art3g presents a new body of work by the husband and wife team of Taiji & Masako Arita entitled, Fruit of the Redwoods. These pieces celebrate the intrinsic beauty of an often overlooked presence in our coastal forests: old-growth stumps left over from harvesting operations done between the late 1800's and early 1900's when timber was king on the coast.
The Aritas have teamed up on this project and applied their refined aesthetic to transform salvaged redwood slabs into items of sublime beauty. All wood used for this project has been harvested from old-growth stumps making it an example of how the the creative process can embrace sustainability. This show runs through June 27th. There will be an opening reception for the artists on Friday May 1st starting at 5pm. The gallery is located in Fort Bragg's historic Company Store. Gallery hours are from 12 until 5 Wed through Sat, or at other times, by appointment.
