Joey Kraus
Tower Hats

Joey Kraus was born in 1952 in San Diego. He is from a family of artists. Joey began his creative career in 1989 when he got out of rehab. He wanted to wear the rehab's hat everyday so he turned it into a piece of art using epoxy as his medium and making the hat indestructible.

A couple of years later a Hollywood costume designer saw Joey wearing the hat. He was so impressed by the design he gave Joey seven baseball caps to epoxy. This began the line of Joey's specialized epoxy hats.

While most of his hats are singular pieces, he has branched off into a form he calls the "tower hat" which is more art piece than wearable hat, although he does try these on from time to time.
